Biography

Rhiannon Lucente

With a tendency of doing things off the beaten path her whole life, Rhiannon turned to motorcycle racing in 2001. Her mom, Alexa Krueger of Spyder Leatherworks, was the driving force behind this decision. When Rhiannon turned 18, Alexa decided it was time to ride and race motorcycles and tried to persuade Rhiannon to do the same. Unfortunately, Rhiannon was determined to choose the path of skateboarding and snowboarding. After some coaxing, and promises of cute boys to flirt with, Rhiannon finally visited the local track. She watched her mom throw herself down the track, get up with broken bones and bruises, all while still smiling. She saw how fun this sport really could be and joined her mom on the track the following season. The ongoing joke is "she came for the boys and stayed for the bikes".

After 8 years of custom painting bicycles for Waterford Precision Cycles, and being a crew chief in the 128 th Air National Guard, she moved out of Wisconsin to chase racing opportunities that would slowly turn out to be extremely fruitful. She had her share of ups and downs, like any racer, but never let it get the best of her. Rhiannon did what was necessary to race, from learning how to build engines, to staying up all night race prepping, to driving across the country alone. She wanted to prove her worth in the industry, and never expected anyone to do her any favors. She knew that her hard work would pay off if she kept her chin up and never lost her tenacious attitude.

With a few years of keeping her nose to the grindstone, she met Sam West. He offered her a Ducati 748R to race, and soon after that she was riding full time for Sam on a Yamaha R6. She did everything in her power to create a strong race effort with Sam.built engines, painted bodywork, turned wrenches, drove long hours, even banged the door down to get sponsors. Sam has worked hard to give Rhiannon the resources, and the opportunity, to become the accomplished racer she is today.

Now, 6 years later, Rhiannon has followed her dream and has succeeded in making a career of racing. She has accomplished nearly all of her short and long term goals, and is constantly striving to better her racing career. She enjoys taking race schools, studying fitness and nutrition, play riding with friends (dirt or road), riding pedal bikes, maintaining the race machines and competing in as many events as she can each season. Rhiannon will do whatever it takes to become the racer she aspires to be, she isn't afraid to try anything once.
